Abstract

The phenomenon of sexual violence against children and adolescents is a subject camouflaged and little discussed that demands attention from the public authorities and professionals from various areas, highlighting, in the present work, the important role of the school in the process of sexual education. The school is a privileged space for the interruption of the cycle of violence, having as reference the proposals and actions in sex education. However, professionals often encounter difficulties with the approach of this theme and choose to omit the suspicious behaviors of students. Considering the problem presented, this research has as main objective to investigate and analyze how the municipal school network of Pires do Rio – GO have worked the actions focused on sexual education in their daily lives with students. This qualitative investigation was composed of three stages. The first stage consisted of a documentary research that aimed to evaluate the care at the Specialized Social Assistance Reference Center (CREAS) in the city of Pires do Rio – GO, related to sexual violence against children and adolescents. From the data analyzed, it was observed that the highest number of incidences correspond to female children and adolescents, aged 0 to 12 years, inserted in the initial years of the schooling process. In addition, it was found that most of the alleged aggressors have an affectional bond with the victim, signaling the absence of definition of protective roles in the family nucleus. Given this reality, it was evident that the city needs to promote better forms of prevention of this type of violence, especially with sexual education within school spaces. Thus, the second stage of the research consisted in the application of a questionnaire to a group of managers and teachers of municipal public schools that include Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I. Finally, the results of the first two stages led to the elaboration of the third stage of this research, a training course in sexual education applied to the participants of the present work, that was also evaluated by them. The course contributed to the training of the participants and provoked reflections in the field of sexual education, signaling possibilities for preventing sexual violence against children and adolescents.
